Week 14 Tuesday & Wednesday's Lesson Tasks (Week beginning 13th July)
1. As last lesson was the last lesson given to the Scratch project, please ensure your project is finished (as well as it can be) and shared so that I can play your game.
2. The main task for today & tomorrow's lessons is to sign up and work throug the OSA online e-safety course - once completed you will be awarded with a course completion certificate, which will provide you and future employers evidence that you are a responsible online users. This will look great on your CV!
3. To get started, simply read the guide attached below CAREFULLY and COMPLETE EACH STEP OF THE GUIDE.

Week 12 TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY LESSONS (Week beginning 29th June)
1. This will be our final week on developing our own Scratch Computer game.
Today and tomorrow, you will continue to build the game that you have designed with aim to finishing it tomorrow.
Please do the following:
- sign into your scratch account
- open your new project
- spend 30 minutes continuing to create your game.
- if you do not finish the game exactly as you wanted, please do not worry.
- make sure your project file is shared so that I can see your progress.

Week 11 - No Lessons
Week 10 TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY LESSONS (Week beginning 15th June)
1. Today, you are to continue to build the game that you have designed.
Please do the following:
- sign into your scratch account
- open your 'Year 7 Game' file (that you started last lesson)
- spend 30 more minutes on creating your game
- at the end of the 30 mins you will not have finished - this is to be expected - please don't worry - you should not have finished! 🙂
- if you have not already done so, you MUST share the project file so that I can see your progress, and future progress in the next few lessons.

Week 9 NO LESSONS
Week 8 WEDNESDAY LESSON (Week beginning 1st June)
1. Today, you need to continue to build the game that you have designed.
Please do the following:
- sign into your scratch account
- open your 'Year 7 Game' file (that you started last lesson)
- spend 30 more minutes on creating your game
- at the end of the 30 mins you will not have finished - this is to be expected - please don't worry - you should not have finished! 🙂

Week 8Â (Week beginning 1st June)
1. Over the last few weeks you have learnt all the skills needed to code a computer game in Scratch. Last lesson you designed your very own game.
Today, you will begin to build the game that you have designed.
Please do the following:
- sign into your scratch account
- create a new project and give it a name such as 'My Year 7 Game'
- spend 30 minutes making a start on creating your game
- at the end of the 30 mins you will not have finished - this is to be expected - please don't worry - you should not have finished! 🙂
- you MUST share the new project file so that I can see your progress, and future progress in the next few lessons.

Week 6Â WEDNESDAY LESSON (Week beginning 11th May)
1. Watch the video lesson below, then complete the lesson activities underneath.
- Decide on an idea for a computer game which you will program that has movement, scoring and at least 2 levels. Take 10 minutes to complete the 'Design Cover Sheet': DOWNLOAD THE SHEET HERE
- On a piece of blank paper, sketch out your designs for Level 1 and Level 2 - just like I did in the video. Make sure they are detailed and fully annotated.
- If you are able to, take a picture of your work and submit it on Show My Homework.

Week 6 TUESDAY LESSON (Week beginning 11th May)
1. Watch the video lesson below, then complete the lesson activities underneath.
- Create a new backdrop
- Create an end of level object
- Program the end of level object to hide at the start of the game, then appear after a certain score and then broadcast a message when touched by the main character.
- Make the backdrop change when the broadcast occurs.
Make sure you complete this in your Scratch account (which you made a few weeks ago). When you have completed this, make sure that you SHARE the project so your teacher can see your work.

3. Try to develop your second level by creating new scoring items which hide when the game starts and appear when the broadcast occurs.
4. Complete at least one badge on the iDEA website.
Week 5 NO LESSON
Week 4 WEDNESDAY LESSON (Week beginning 27th April)
1. Log into this website (sidmouthcs.com) by clicking on the Login button top right of this screen.
Remember to use your normal school username (not email address) and school password. If you get 'Error Creating User!' message when trying to log in, it means you have entered your email address and not your username!
2. After logging in, go to this page: https://sidmouthcs.com/courses/year-7-scratch-game-maker/
3. Scroll down to the two QUIZ links at the bottom of the list. (See image below)
4. Complete both quizzes, making sure that you read the feedback after each answer is submitted. You have three attempts at each quiz. Keep attempting the quizzes to record your highest score.

Week 4 TUESDAY LESSON (Week beginning 27th April)

2. Watch the Video Lesson to learn how to program scoring items.
- Create a scoring item
- Create a score card (variable)
- Program the scoring item to hide when the main character touches it and make the score go up by 1.
- See if you can alter the code so that instead of hiding, the scoring items goes to another location on the screen

Week 3 (Week beginning 20th April)
No Lesson
Week 2 - Lesson 2 (Week beginning 13th April)
- Make sure you have completed the tasks outlined in your lesson yesterday (outlined in the post from yesterday, below)
- Log back into your new Scratch Account and load up the work you did yesterday.
- Click on the SHARE button at the top of the screen - this was something I should have asked you to do yesterday as it allows me to see your coding.
- Log onto the iDEA website and spend the rest of the lesson time completing as many badges as you can.
Week 2 - Lesson 1 (Week beginning 13th April)
- Watch the video and learn how to sign up to scratch with a new 'Sidmouth Student Account'.

- Move up, down, left and right, controlled by the arrow keys.
- Glide from one location of the screen to another.
- Go to a certain location when the green flag is clicked.

Week 1 (Week beginning 23rd March)
Although many of you have already done this, you first need to sign up to https://idea.org.uk/.

Once you have signed up and entered your class organiser code, you need to start working through the badges.
Regardless of whether you started last week or not, you need to spend a minimum of 1 hour working through badges of your choice.
I will be able to monitor what badges people achieve and will begin to celebrate their successes on the Award Celebration page.
After Easter, your weekly lessons will generally follow the normal CS curriculum that we deliver each year, but we will also continue to dedicate some lesson time to the iDEA award too!
